Lelt on the Ground: 2025 Wrapped

Updated: Dec 25, 2025

This year, your support made a significant difference for Lelt's communities in Ethiopia! Together, we advanced programs that expand opportunity, strengthen families, and support long-term stability. Here is a snapshot of what we accomplished in 2025:

Supporting Education for a Brighter Future

Education is the most powerful driver of long-term success among Lelt's students. In 2025, our Scholarship Program provided tuition and school supplies for nearly two hundred students in Ethiopia, including 35 full scholarships to top-scoring K–12 students to attend the best private schools in the region. Lelt also awarded college scholarships to 47 students graduating from state orphanages – young people who are often deeply marginalized and face significant barriers to higher education and employment without sustained support. These scholarships provide more than financial aid; they offer a pathway to opportunity, stability, and independence. Additionally, 23 students from Lelt’s partner organization, Open Future Ethiopia, received scholarships for college and vocational training, equipping our scholars with the skills needed to succeed in their local job markets.

Providing Holistic Care for Families

More than 200 families benefited from comprehensive care programs. These programs address critical needs such as nutrition, education, hygiene, and healthcare. By meeting these basic needs, Lelt helps families build stronger foundations for the future.

This approach recognizes that children thrive best when their entire family is supported. Access to healthcare and proper nutrition improves school attendance and performance, while hygiene education reduces illness.

Creating Opportunities for People with Disabilities

Through our partnership with SALU, 88 individuals with disabilities gained greater independence through vocational training and livelihood development. Lelt’s targeted programs include skills training and small business support, helping participants earn income and build confidence.

These efforts show how focused support can break down barriers and create real opportunities for self-reliance. The success stories from this group highlight the value of practical skills and community inclusion.

Building Community Resources with Local Partners

Lelt partnered with Anchor Ethiopia to open the Suki-Mariam Community Center in 2023, which has grown to serve 50 families through the past year. This center features Lelt's 3rd solar-powered technology lab. As digital literacy becomes increasingly vital across Sub-Saharan Africa, this lab creates a safe, sustainable space where students can build essential skills. and learn coding and programming.

The community center also acts as a hub for education and social support, strengthening ties among families and community members. This project demonstrates how collaboration with local organizations can expand reach and impact to the most under-served communities.

The Power of Lelt's Donors

Your generosity made these achievements possible. Each scholarship awarded, family supported, and skill taught represents a step forward for individuals and communities. As we look ahead, continuing this work will help even more people build better lives. Thank you for your support in 2025!
