Wondimu is 13 and in 6th grade at Repi Elementary School. His favorite class is Mathematics and he wants to be an engineer when he grows up.
 

Wondimu's mother, Haimanot, was abandoned by her husband when Wondi was a few years old. She supports her two sons by working for the city as a garbage collector. This work is strenuous and pays very little. Although she works very hard, she cannot provide enough to feed her 2 children. This family is suffering from nutrition-related illnesses as a result. If Wondimu is sponsored for $35/month, he will receive daily meals, after-school tutoring, and basic medical care. If his family is sponsored for an additional $15 a month, they will all receive monthly food rations and medical care, and his mother will be given priority to enroll in our Family Business Program, where she will be empowered to start her own small business and earn an income.
