Teseme is 9 years old and in 4th grade at Repi Primary School in Kara Kore, Ethiopia. She loves all her classes, especially English, and wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

Teseme's mother left school in 3rd grade to help her parents at home, and cannot read or write. She has severe back pain, so employment is difficult for her. She stays home to care for her 3 children. Her father, Getahun, works manual labor jobs at construction sites in Kara Kore, but this is difficult work and pays very little. This family can't meet their monthly expenses, and are in crisis. If Teseme is sponsored for $35/month, she will receive daily meals and after school tutoring. If her family is sponsored for $15 additional a month, they will all receive monthly food rations and medical care, and her parents will receive priority to enroll in our Family Business Program, where they will be empowered to start their own small business.
