Selam is 10 years old in 4th grade at Hidasse Primary School in Kara Kore, Ethiopia. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

Five years ago, Selam's mother passed away after battling lung cancer. Her father, Tekalign, has been raising Selam and her little sister Lea by himself. His wages earned as a messenger are very meager, and he is having trouble supporting his daughters. If Selam is sponsored for $35/month, she will receive daily meals and after school tutoring. If her family is sponsored for $15 additional a month, they will all receive monthly food rations and medical care, and her father will receive priority to enroll in our Family Business Program, where he will be empowered to start his own small business.
