Kalkidan is 12 years old and in 6th grade at Repi School in Kara Kore, Ethiopia. Kalkidn wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

Kalkidan's mother, Elfe, takes care of her 3 children while her father, Girma, works as a day laborer. This is back-breaking work for very little pay. The family does not have enough to survive, and they are living in crisis. If Kalkidan is sponsored for $35/month, she will receive daily meals and after school tutoring. If her family is sponsored for $15 additional a month, they will all receive monthly food rations and medical care, and her father and sister will receive priority to enroll in our Family Business Program, where they will be empowered to start their own small business.
