Hana is 13 years old in 8th grade at Hidasse Middle School in Kara Kore, Ethiopia. Her favorite school subjects are chemistry and biology, and she wants to be a scientist when she grows up.

Hana's mother, Teshay, was orphaned when she was little. So she grew up with distant relatives. She always had to work for her room and board and never attended school. Eighteen years ago she married Birhanu, and they had 6 children. He makes a very small wage as a day laborer, and Tsehay only earns a few coins a day selling bread and doing neighbors' laundry. This family is in crisis and needs support to get out of it. If Hana is sponsored for $35/month, she will receive daily meals and after school tutoring. If her family is sponsored for $15 additional a month, they will all receive monthly food rations and medical care, and her parents will receive priority to enroll in our Family Business Program, where they will be empowered to start their own small business.
