Berekey is in 2nd grade at Repi Elementary School in Kara Kore, Ethiopia. His favorite class is Science and he wants to be a car mechanic when he grows up.
 

Bereket's mother, Yeshi, only attended school to the 4th grade. Her family pulled her out to earn income as a maid. When she was still young, her family forced her into an arranged marriage with a difficult man. She managed to escape, yet she was pregnant with Bereket. She now begs for food to feed her son. They are suffering from nutrition-related illnesses as a result. If Bereket is sponsored for $35/month, he will receive daily meals, after school tutoring, and basic medical care. If his family is sponsored for an additional $15 a month, his mother will be given priority to enroll in our Family Business Program, where she will be empowered to start her own small business and earn an income.
